Reviewing the ADDIE Model

As a reminder to myself of the importance of effective learning environments, this post will review the ADDIE model which will serve as a template for my online collaborative learning project.

A is for Analysis

  • Who are my users?
  • What do I want them to be able to do; what are my objectives?
  • What have others done that is similar?
  • What performance drivers might prevent my users from learning with this tool? (skills, knowledge, motivation, environment, incentive)

D is for Design

  • What do I want users to be able to do when they visit the site?
  • Is my site going to be a recurring effort, or a one-time project?

D is for Development

  • What tools will I use to support the site?
  • What customizations will I need to complete my site?
  • Am I happy with the way it turned out?

I is for Implementation

  • How will I introduce my tool?
  • What do I have to do to get permission from my district to implement my tool?

E is for Evaluation

  • How will I know if the site is helping the users reach the objectives I have defined for them?
